Sonnet 14

By February, I'll be heading down
With no specific schedule, off the cuff,
Except to take the south side out of town.
No, even Houston isn't south enough.

Already I've been itching to be out
Just getting ready, shaking off some dust,
Envisioning ahead the perfect route
To go as far as my conclusions must.

Hold the floor, I'll be down before long
To show you I know how to close my mouth,
Sit very still and act like nothing's wrong.

No one knows this dream as well as I
Whose words it carries farther, farther south,
Floating, light as air, a hollow sigh.
