Sonnet 22

When sunlight all my thoughts and senses slow,
It's nice to take a break from my routine.
There is a park to which I like to go
Where I become part of its pleasant scene.

I close my eyes and stretch out on the grass,
Then let the warm glow spread across my skin.
An hour, maybe two or three, will pass
Without a thought as to what state I'm in.

Eventually the soothing sun soaks through.
No matter how I'd been, it feels alright,
With songs inside my head that sound brand new.

The images the sunshine's touch has stirred
Stay warm inside my body through the night.
I feel my own flesh made into its word.
