Weight of Love

Weight of Love

I'm not given to opportunity
for breaking through to what I call home,
to what play the sun or the moon to me
-- I've made those things on my own.
So I won't lie and claim I ask, as such,
for such gifts as come from above.
But you, you're true, in the aim of your touch
from a heart with the weight of love.

I worry you might feel hostility
when my time here has come and gone.
But even if so, your words still will be
the moonlight that brings in dawn.
And your poetry will live on, my friend,
as I dream what you're writing of —
release, pure peace, a song with no end
from a heart with the weight of love.
