Sonnet 26

Sonnet 26

My breath like thin air, quiet and serene
as if the wind were childless, silhouettes
my doppelgänger willing to be seen
in company with me, despite dire threats.

The words I make are shadowless, like glass
that leaves the water nothing to reflect.
Each vision I imagine, you surpass
as though your mirrors in me were unchecked.

Ill-fated, doomed - is that what's to assume
to come of my attempts to make my sounds
concrete and sharp enough to pierce your room?

They warn of expiration, so to speak,
yet each response I hear inside surrounds
my voice in love authentic and unique.
