Sonnet 33

Posted in quatorzain by maggie on 2007/02/22

The sacrifice of all I thought I had
will lead me where inside I dared not go.
My doctors share their notes, "The girl is mad:
she thinks she recreates herself as though

such things were left to patients to decide."
I grin at them. The sacrifice of all
I thought I had will lead me where inside
I dared not go. They send me down the hall

back to my room. Pit pat, pit pat, pit pat,
pit pat, pit pat - Each line is new for me:
my steps, my walls, my door, my room, my mat.

At them I may as well just grunt or cough.
For all their education, they don't see:
tomorrow picks up where today leaves off.
