Second One

Posted in nothing special by maggie on 2009/01/12

Random breath, shut up, the night ahead lies open
To take as far as we dare give, damn caring, damn us hoping.

I've slept off countless times like these as easy as old lovers
And always woke beside the one still longing for the other.

You haven't said your prayers for years not even in your anger ―
The tongue may know an only god, the lips will kiss a stranger.

Yet do I hear what I most want scratching out eyes in its shadow?
You didn't come, you haven't left, you won't be here tomorrow.

Chance wind, get out, the night for us spreads open
To give as far as we dare take, damn counting it, damn hoping.
