You smile.  You know the questions not to ask;
she's memorized responses not to say.
Like sacrifice, like ritualistic task,
you smile, you know. The questions not to ask
carve secret symbols dark across her mask,
each scar the way she's seen, the way
she's memorized. Responses not to say
inspire an image of whom they betray.
You smile. You know the questions not to ask.
She's memorized responses not to say.
