clicking intruments

machines mete out the day in clicks
the hour for faking labor chimes
i count down time between its tricks

the doorway's blocked with bloody bricks
a shadow through the window climbs
machines mete out the day in clicks

the wheel defeats the one it picks
then tries to love the one it mimes
i count down time between its tricks

at intervals i stir the mix
some god devours it other times
machines mete out the day in clicks

a voice inside me slaps and kicks
it has no form and never rhymes
i count down time between its tricks

i'm stapled to a crucifix
to save myself from further crimes
machines mete out the day in clicks
i count down time between its tricks

the crucifix was the first image i saw of it and the first word chosen for this, and the rest unfolded out from the half world it tried to birth itself into

      thanks for the read
