Asides 2

Impatient warnings fill a vacant sky
with streaks of black as open as if rent,
the throat as sore as scraped across cement,
the tongue as hard as rock, sterile and dry.

A scratchy sound emerges in reply
and then another, falling where that went,
the voice of aspirations parched and spent
unchristened by the sacred reason why.

And then one eager kiss, vibrant and wet,
explodes into a flood of fertile noise,
each thought creating what its birth destroys
in bursts of spit and blood and tears and sweat.
Word vanishes off to a twist of steam
as easily as water to a stream.
