Afterthought 173—Changed Expectation

Posted in sonnet cycle by maggie on 2015/04/10

Enough to leave the surest touch nonplus,
yet not in time to trouble comfort's breech
with online covenants that seldom reach
maturity encountered acting thus,
quite arguably that's what's come of us:
alone with every nothing, one of each.
We take the place of fables we impeach
so as to hear what we'll not then discuss.

No more!! We've not had anything all day
to keep us thinking there'll be more to come
as long as we stay faithful to the cause.
What gets killed off isn't placed on pause
to be resumed tomorrow, rescued from
the losing games our broken mirrors play.

Sincere comment by readers who accept responsibility for their words will earn my appreciation and response.
